Dennis Talluto grew up in Wyandotte, MI, the oldest of six children in a large but very tight-knit community of aunts, uncles, cousins, and more. He attended Catholic schools through grade 8 and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School (public).
Dennis is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, who twice took the Oath of Enlistment – the first time as a 16-year-old high school junior entering the Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP), the second time in 1975 when he left home for boot camp and the start of his four-year enlistment.
While in service, Dennis earned various awards and ribbons, serving in various locations from Puerto Rico, to Hawaii, and up to the Bering Sea and Alaska - culminating in an Honorable Discharge upon completing his four-year commitment. Upon returning home, Dennis entered the Electrical & Electronic Engineering program at Lawrence Institute of Technology (now LTU) in Southfield.
Dennis has been married for more than 40 years to his wife Pam, and is the father of two grown children, and two grandchildren – one of whom is currently enrolled in the Rochester Community School District. In 1991, Dennis and his young family moved to Rochester Hills due to GM/EDS work moving from the Warren Tech Center to Auburn Hills – and they have lived in Rochester Hills ever since.
Dennis has had an incredible wide-ranging 40-year career in technology and consulting, working for companies such as Exxon, GM, EDS, Nortel Networks, Ford, Comerica Bank, and Beaumont Health to name a few – as well as two start-ups and a slew of consulting engagements, including aerospace and cybersecurity. His greatest strengths and passions are in strategic planning, tactical planning, resource management, and efficiency expertise – especially with underperforming organizations struggling with moving to great!
Dennis has also served on two Silicon Valley Boards of Directors – serving two elected terms as Director of the Fibre Channel Association (FCA), the second term being appointed by the Board to serve as Chairman – serving with technology giants such as HP, IBM, Cisco, Dell/EMC, Hitachi and many, many others. Dennis was also appointed to the role of Director Ex-Officio at the Storage Network Industry Association (SNIA) – representing the FCA to the larger world-wide storage and storage education markets. It was during these years on Boards of Directors that Dennis honed his executive skills in governance, leadership, integrity and transparency – the same skills Dennis intends to inculcate into the Rochester Community Schools Board of Education.
Outside of his career, Dennis’ passion is his large extended family, his Faith, and spending time with his Bands of Brothers – men who are seeking to better themselves, their families, and the communities in which they live, work, and serve.
